Lobster and Stone Crab Charters

Another fun activity in Islamorada is snorkeling for lobster! You will be with Capt. Sara Stanczyk who has lived in the Keys her whole life. She can take up to 4 people on her 24′ custom bay boat and all lobster catching gear and licensing is included. You will need to supply your own snorkel gear and bring your own food and drinks. Basic snorkeling skills are required, this is not an activity for first timers…no scuba gear, just free diving only. The best time of year for lobstering is August through October. After that the winter cold fronts start to move in and the water gets too chilly and stirred up by the wind to go out any more with success. BUT November through March during the winter months are great for pulling stone crab traps! Its a hands on, messy but fun experience where you will learn how to pull the traps, harvest crab claws, re-bait the traps, and drop them in the water again.

Rates:

$600 for a 1/2 day lobster charter (the average charter is 3-4 hours) August – Oct

$400 for stone crab charters (2-3 hour trip) Nov-March

For reservations please call Capt. Sara at 305-394-1042 or you can get more information on her website at www.floridakeysecotour.com
