Broad Minded

The NEW “Broad Minded” is a 2024 42′ Freeman powered by quad yamaha 350’s. It’s one of the fastest and nicest offshore charter boats in town! We have the latest and greatest Garmin electronics as well as all Penn Tackle for helping us catch fish. For seating there are 5 forward facing seats (1 is for the captain), a rear facing bench seat which sits on top of two drink boxes, and a large coffin box lounger. There’s no head on the boat but we always have a 5 gallon bucket. We can handle up to 6 guests on the boat and with the extra speed compared to so many boats you will have more fishing time! Capt. Mike Varney has run the Boat the past couple seasons and Swordfishing and Deep Drop bottom fishing is our specialty. Of course we can fish for all the usual stuff but Capt. Nick Stanczyk originally went the Freeman route to focus on our longer offshore runs.

End of October Fishing Report!

Great Trip with Max Gaspeny Max took our 3 sons (24, 14, and 12) out today while my wife and I went with another guide. It was the younger two’s first time with a guide and first time on salt water. Max asked them what they wanted to do and the boys answered you do this for a living so you make the call. The first spot they went they caught 50 plus fish of 11 different species and the boys had a blast. Then Max asked if they wanted to try for some Tarpon he spotted the night before. They said sure. They hooked 8, boated three a couple smaller and one Max thought was around 50 pounds. Needless to say they came back to the dock on cloud 9. Today wasn’t a great fishing day either as my wife and I landed one Jack-our only other bite was a hammerhead. On top of that Max was just so good with the boys. They all came back telling me about the stories they heard and what a great time they had. He was super patient with the little guys and shared some very kind words about them when the got back in. I really can’t speak highly enough about the experience he gave my kids today. Thank you Max.

Great, fun experience. Highly recommend Took my two sons (17 and 21 years) and my brother there. We stayed in the Ocean Front House and went deep sea fishing for one day and backcountry fishing for one day. We had a great time. It was a great experience. It was kind of slow days for fishing but we caught fish and had a fun time. The boat captains did everything they could to put us on the fish
The Ocean Front house we stayed in was simple and clean. And about 20 yards from where we stepped on the boat. That is super convenient so you could sleep longer in the morning without having to drive a ways to get to the boat and you could get to your room for a nap after a long day of fishing.
Despite not getting the catch of a lifetime we hoped for, it was still a great experience and everyone had a great time. All the captains, mates, staff, and anyone else involved in the operations there were friendly and helpful. I will come back again 100%! Even once we catch the fish of a lifetime, we will keep coming back.

If you want a lot of fish, this is the place! We have been on 3 fishing trips during our vacation here in the Keys, all at different times of the day and night and on different boats. Our most recent was on the Miss Islamorada and it was by far the best trip of all. We caught way more fish, which was due 100% to the mates help and professionalism in providing a wide variety of baits and techniques and it really paid off. There are other good trips you could take if you want to pay up to 10x as much money but for an all day fun adventure this is the best! We will be back asap.
