Captain Mark Hlis has a strong passion for sight fishing the flats and backcountry. He has considerable knowledge and experience of the Florida Keys and can take you to where the fish are. He chooses to use only the best equipment; his boat is a Hells Bay Professional 17.8 Professional.

This boat will give you a comfortable ride in choppy waters yet floats in just 5 inches. It is stealth quiet when hunting for tailing bonefish, permit, redfish and tarpon. Whether you prefer light spinning tackle or fly fishing, he can put you on the fish. Novice anglers are welcome.

Captain Mark Hlis is a 2nd generation native of Miami and has been fishing South Florida and the Keys since the age of 6.

Today Mark’s passion is fishing the Florida Keys flats and the backcountry for tarpon, bonefish, permit, snook, redfish, and sharks.

End of October Fishing Report!

Fabulous Captain and Sportfishing Facility Captain Nick Stanczyk is an absolutely fabulous guide and captain. He knew where to fish which put onto a giant fish very quickly. Then he never took his eyes off the line and kept the boat properly placed for the duration of an 8 hour plus fight. In the end, we landed a record size swordfish of over 757 pounds. As experienced captains ourselves we cannot say enough positive things about Capt. Nick, his boat or and his crew. In addition, Bud n Mary’s knows how to treat fisherman of all levels. The Galley Girls Cafe located at Bud n Mary’s puts together great early am breakfast in plenty of time to make the boat departures and their lunch boxes are excellent as well. If you are looking for great day trips or a trip of a lifetime Capt. Nick Stanczyk and Bud n Mary’s is the place to go.

We were looking for an inexpensive fishing charter for the day when we drove by and saw the sign, $70 all day party boat. COVID restrictions limited boat capacity to 30 which was the perfect amount of people without being over crowded. The boat wasn't luxurious by any means but what do you expect for that price. Not a long ride out, about 45 minutes. The captain had us on fish all day! The deck hands, Ray and Erin were awesome guys and very helpful with anything you needed. All you had to do was bait your hook and catch the fish! Most of the day was fishing and not riding which was great. Definitely will be back! Thanks guys, cheers!

We have chartered fishing trips out of here two times. No complaints, great to be able to get some food and drinks before heading out, and staff has been friendly both times.
