Meet Captain Cory Nelson, a Florida native with a love for the backcountry and 10 years of experience with inshore and offshore fishing. When he’s not on a charter, you can typically find him enjoying a day out on the water with his daughter Bindi or pursuing one of his numerous adrenaline driven hobbies. Cory is passionate about sight fishing on fly and spin particularly permit, tarpon, and bonefish. Cory welcomes anglers of all experience levels and looks forward to making it a great day out on the water!

Captain Cory competes in numerous tournaments including the Islamorada Gold Cup, Jimmy Johnson, Reef cup, and blue/white marlin tournaments in the Bahamas and Cuba.

Great, fun experience. Highly recommend Took my two sons (17 and 21 years) and my brother there. We stayed in the Ocean Front House and went deep sea fishing for one day and backcountry fishing for one day. We had a great time. It was a great experience. It was kind of slow days for fishing but we caught fish and had a fun time. The boat captains did everything they could to put us on the fish
The Ocean Front house we stayed in was simple and clean. And about 20 yards from where we stepped on the boat. That is super convenient so you could sleep longer in the morning without having to drive a ways to get to the boat and you could get to your room for a nap after a long day of fishing.
Despite not getting the catch of a lifetime we hoped for, it was still a great experience and everyone had a great time. All the captains, mates, staff, and anyone else involved in the operations there were friendly and helpful. I will come back again 100%! Even once we catch the fish of a lifetime, we will keep coming back.

This marina is great! Came with a few friends for MDW and within 5 minutes on the phone, we had a boat locked down. It was super easy and the boat was new and in great shape! Perfect for the sandbar adventures that we had planned. The whole team is very helpful and pretty funny as well. Couldnt have asked for an easier situation.We will 100% be using this marina to rent our boats every year!!

Captain Bill Bassett at Bud and Mary’s My husband and I are boat owners and fish out of OCNJ for the past 30+ years. We came to Islamorada to fish a full day back country through the Everglades for a new experience; catch some fish new to us and see some cool wildlife. Friends referred us to Bud and Mary’s and after chatting with us for a bit, Chrissy paired us with Capt Bill Bassett saying that it would be a great fit, and she was right. Capt Bill is a master of his craft, knows where to fish, how to catch and cater to his clients. We caught snook, bonefish, sea trout, a bunch of jacks and saw some crocs 😀. He’s also an entertaining conversationalist, the 8 hour trip passed in a blink. What a fantastic experience, thanks so much Captain Bill and Bud & Mary’s Marina!
